Our Story
Our first date was in November 2019 at Recess in Fulton Market. The conversation flowed so easily that it felt like catching up with an old friend. Jess remembers thinking Brandon was refreshingly normal and incredibly easy to talk to, though she would soon learn he was anything but normal, in the best possible way. Brandon remembers thinking Jess was not only a very cute girl, but someone he instantly wanted to know more about. And when she picked up the tab? He was sold. (Don't worry, he covered drinks at Blind Barber right after and has been holding his own ever since.)
A second date followed just three days later, and by date number three, Brandon was Jess’s plus-one at her company holiday party. Things moved fast, but it felt natural from the very beginning.
Then COVID-19 hit, and we became inseparable. With Jess’s roommate heading back to Michigan and Brandon living alone, we spent nearly all our time together. We filled our days with puzzles, experimenting with cocktail recipes, and picking up new hobbies. What started as an easy conversation turned into something steady, joyful, and lasting.

In September 2023, we officially moved in together in Chicago’s West Loop, where we have built a life we love. Our days are filled with exploring the city, traveling and skiing across North America, and turning even the smallest, most mundane moments into our favorite memories.
On May 1, 2025, Brandon proposed at home when Jess arrived back from work. It was just the two of them, which felt perfect. Jess had been planning to stop at Ulta on the way home to pick up a few things just in case, since she was fairly certain a proposal was coming and happily anticipating it. But Brandon told her to come straight home. He did not want to wait another minute to ask her to spend forever with him. It was simple, honest, and exactly who they are.

We've reserved room blocks at two hotels in the heart of Chicago's Magnificent Mile, both within walking distance of Holy Name Cathedral. We encourage you to stay wherever works best for you, as there are many excellent hotels in the area. Please note that shuttle buses will run from these two hotels to the reception venue.
Additional details including parking information, restaurant and bar recommendations, and other local attractions will be shared on this site when invitations are sent.
